Professional Women’s Group starts again
15 May 2014
The Dress for Success Wellington, Professional Women’s Group (PWG), has started again for 2014 and is ready to support employed clients with some of the challenges they face in the workplace.
PWG meets monthly and provides women with information and inspiration to ensure they succeed at work. Last month, guest speaker Gagau Annandale-Stone talked about how she manages an effective work-life balance.
Gagau would have a fair idea about this, she manages to balance motherhood, sport, volunteer work and other activities with her job as General Manager Employer Services at Work and Income. Her team works with significant national employers, industry associations and businesses to help clients into sustainable jobs. She has often been complimented for creating 'a dynamic and supportive culture .'
“This culture,” Gagau says, “needs to recognise that people have diverse talents and interests and while work is an important area of their lives, as their leader I need to support them in striking the right balance with work and home. “
She hopes the women from PWG left her session realising, “that in our busy lives it is vital to take time for your own personal agenda that includes treating yourself, exploring your creative talents and following through on your aspirations. Don’t wait, act now!” says Gagau.
Gagau explains that the session became reflective near the end as the participants began to discover different ways that they could balance their stresses at home and at work, “the magic is in managing our time between work, home and play.”
For Gagau the night was enjoyable and a good reminder of how incredibly resourceful and focused women are.
The next Professional Women’s Group will be held on Thursday 29th May, at 5.30pm, DFS Office, Level 2, 53 Boulcott Street. For more information please contact Lynn Cole, PWG Co-ordinator.
