Board member Joanna de Wilde resigns

Dress for Success Wellington President Helen Trim would like to thank outgoing board member, Joanna de Wilde for her work over the years.
“Joanna has contributed to changes that have seen our organisation move from strength to strength. She has been a support for me and I am grateful for her help,” says Helen.
Joanna joined Dress for Success Wellington about five and a half years ago and has been a board member for five of those years.
“I had a bit of spare time so I thought it was a good opportunity to get involved with some volunteer work and give back to the community. At the start I was helping out reasonably regularly with clothes sorting and other tasks and then after about six months, I was asked to apply for a board position,” says Joanna.
She says she finds Dress for Success very appealing because it is all about giving women a start.
“In the ideal situation it enables them to tap into their abilities and ambitions and create lives for themselves. It is particularly rewarding to know that in some cases we can assist a mother to get into employment and become economically independent,” says Joanna.
She feels honoured to have been a part of the organisation and to have watched it grow over the years.
“When I first became involved almost no one had heard of us but now I'd say almost everyone has. Our overall capability has also increased exceptionally, our programmes cover a broader range of needs and are very successful, our volunteers are committed, we have a very high calibre board and we have moved to great new premises. I think these are all impressive achievements that everyone involved should be proud of,” concludes Joanna.
Joanna leaves Dress for Success Wellington to focus on her career but says she will definitely look at volunteering again in the future.
