Board thanks outgoing Treasurer
4 February 2014
Dress for Success Wellington would like to thank Julia Fletcher for her service as a board member and Treasurer. Julia has been with us since the end of 2010 and now, after a year’s break with baby Mahe, she returns to work at Deloitte.
What really drew Julia to Dress for Success Wellington is the way it helps women feel confident. By giving our clients a personal styling session, we are helping women to “look fabulous and gain the confidence to do an interview well and hopefully get the job,” says Julia.
She firmly believes people do better when they feel good about themselves and adds, with a smile, she always wears makeup and earrings during exams for that reason.
Julia can think of many great moments during her three years with Dress for Success Wellington. One especially memorable occasion was the ten-year Dress for Success Wellington celebration in November 2011. A Night of Chance was a 1930s casino-style party held at Miramar’s Roxy cinema. On the morning before the event, Julia managed to convince three of her colleagues to dress up as gangsters for a stint on the popular morning TV show Breakfast.
“It took a wee bit of coercing but I finally managed to have them stand on the freezing Wellington waterfront all dressed up for the party that night. It really was such a buzz and so much fun,” she says.
We’re sad to see Julia go and she'll be missed. The Board of Dress for Success Wellington greatly appreciates all her dedication and hard work over the last years. We wish her and Mahe a wonderful future.
Julia finishes with Dress for Success Wellington this month and will be replaced by Nicole Sharp.
